Ten (or more) things you might not know about Joanne and wouldn’t think to ask:

• She has a husband named David, an almost-adult daughter named Cassie, and a dog, a cat, a hamster and two fish.

• In 1982, she graduated from Gates-Chili High School, the same institution that over the years has produced such famous alumni as Foreigner’s Lou Gramm and Kenneth Bianchi, The Hillside Strangler.

• She graduated from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY with a Bachelors Degree in Communications/Journalism. Several of her classmates immediately found jobs in the Communications field. She became the world’s worst bank teller.

• Her previous employment also includes:
- Associate editor, Rochester Christian Voice Newspaper, Rochester, NY.
- Owner of Elizabeth’s Tea Emporium, tea shop and tearoom in Pittsford, NY.
- Promotions Specialist, The Summit Federal Credit Union, Rochester, NY.
- Various odd and exciting jobs, including home-show cosmetic sales; playground assistant supervisor for summer recreation program; retail sales; and restaurant hostess.

• She does publicity and promotions for indie bands in Western New York.

• Her story, “When Church Chicks Laugh...” appears in the anthology book The Groovy Chicks Road Trip Guide To Peace (Cook Communications).

• She was once so in love with a car that when the engine blew up she kept the car in the driveway for over a year because she couldn’t bear to part with it.

• In college, she was an on-air personality for the campus radio station, which proudly broadcast into the commuter lounge.

• Her favorite television shows are “Lost”, “Survivor”, “The Amazing Race”, and the recently cancelled “Joan of Arcadia”.

• She is not related to Tom Brokaw, but even if she was she probably wouldn’t ask him for a job.

• She met Jesus when she was 13, but it wasn’t until her mid-30s that she actually got to know Him.

• She once suffered from depression and anxiety attacks - at the same time.

• While on a mission trip to Mexico, she survived for a week without access to a hair dryer and allowed herself to be photographed anyway.

• Her favorite snack foods include white popcorn without butter made the old fashioned way on the stove; dark chocolate with no nuts; blueberry Pop Tarts; and plain rice cakes.

• Her favorite drinks are ice-cold Coke served in a glass bottle and hot black tea served British-style, with milk and sugar.

• As a writer covering entertainment, she has met several honest-to-goodness music and movie celebrities, and to be honest, her life wasn’t really all that different as a result.
